Radio Drama

Good Morning! Another cloudy Monday of the week! The Radio Drama study group began at Taipei City Library Jing-xin Branch last Tuesday afternoon, March 5th. The first gathering of only two participants (me and one member) was successful in a way we spent two hours articulating various kinds of articles in Mandarin.

Ever since the early audio broadcasts took place in 1914, the radio drama reached the peak in the 50’s, and it seems to be obsolete these days. But the great radio drama in the past century provide us with tools to appreciate the art of directing, writing and sound design.

But why radio drama? It is the first step to theater, in my opinion! Before learning the blocking on stage, readers sit in line to hone voicing skills, to articulate the script, and to live in the characters! It provides senior citizens another chance to to involve themselves in an imaginary world and become somebody else!

So, why wait? Let's go to the past to enjoy great novels through the media of radio drama together?
